Students
It's great to have undergraduate students from both universities in Cambridge
joining the church family at Christ Church. As well as encouraging students to
play a full part in the life of the church, we run a series of activities specially
tailored for you.
Sunday lunches
Each Sunday during Anglia Ruskin semesters and Cambridge terms we hold a student
lunch straight after the morning service. These provide an opportunity to catch up
with old friends (and make new ones), discuss the sermon and, several times a term,
take part in an interactive seminar. This year we'll be looking at the Bible's teaching
on church, the Bible, evangelism, relationships, and important topics that show us who
we are and where we're going.
TNT Bible study groups
On Tuesdays we meet at Christ Church from 7.30 p.m. for drinks and cakes,
then from 8–9.30 p.m. we split into groups of six to ten to study the Bible
and pray together. This year we will be working through Mark's gospel, one
of the Bible's accounts of Jesus' life.
Studying the Bible one-to-one
In the past, lots of students have found that studying the Bible one-to-one with
an older, more experienced Christian has been really useful. These meetings provide
chance to learn from God's Word together, to discuss difficulties and challenges,
and ask all those awkward questions that have been bothering you.
Serving at Christ Church
Getting stuck into an area of ministry in the church is a great
way to serve and get to know people. Students can get involved in many areas
of church life - including teaching children in Sunday Club*,
helping in crèche*, playing in the music group, operating
the sound desk, serving tea and coffee, welcoming, and helping with holiday
clubs*. We also encourage each of our students to
consider helping at a camp or Venture* over the summer;
these provide a wonderful opportunity to tell teenagers about Jesus and provide
great training for serving him in the future.
(* Child protection clearance required)
Mid-week prayer
With so much going on, and conscious that we need God's help to accomplish anything
meaningful, we consider our whole church prayer meeting to be central to everything
we do. All the church family meet in the hall at Christ Church monthly on Wednesday
evenings [dates] from 8:00 - 9:30 pm For those who can make it, there's a meal
beforehand (from 7 pm).
