Our Vision: three Ministry Ambitions…
Children’s and families’ ministry
Family life brings many challenges at the different stages of nurturing and discipling children. In dependence on God, our children’s, youth and families’ ministry will include:
Equipping parents Helping in the task of bringing up their children so that in God’s grace they would grow up to know and trust Christ.
Training leaders Providing training programmes which equip leaders to disciple young people effectively and to lead children’s ministry elsewhere in the future.
Reaching out Resourcing other churches and the wider community through sharing materials online and organising training events.
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
2 Peter 1:3
Having been blessed as a church in recent years by an increasing biblical counselling ministry, we have subsequently invested in resourcing this ministry both locally and nationally. Biblical counselling has been facilitated particularly through the gifts of, and opportunities presented to, our senior minister, Steve Midgley. Our vision for this ministry area includes:
Applying the riches of Scripture to the realities of life
Putting an even clearer emphasis on growth in Christlikeness, reflected in our readiness to speak into one another’s lives.
Demonstrating loving and biblically insightful care of others, particularly those experiencing difficult times.
Developing our links with Biblical Counselling UK.
Offering opportunities for church family to be trained in Biblical counselling through workshops and courses (‘Real Change’ and ‘Dynamics of biblical change for leaders’).
Providing resources and books for those who are struggling and those who are seeking to supporting them.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
As a gospel community built by God, we are called to keep on scattering the seed of the gospel – the good news of Jesus. Prayerfully pursuing church growth initiatives will involve:
Setting our sights on A new congregation within our church. Creating a new service made up of members from our current congregations.
Setting our sights on A new church, meeting in another place. We are looking to hire another ordained member of staff, whose role will be to identify members of the church families to start a church plant and to seek out where God is calling the church to plant.
Accepting the costs for us as a church family, both in terms of relationships and finances, trusting that it will be glorious for God’s kingdom as many others are given the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ and to grow as disciples of him.
Four foundations of church life
Called into the body of Christ
Serving together in love
Growing into the likeness of Christ
Declaring Christ to all people
