Social Action

Matthew 5:16 - "let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

Jesus calls his people to love their neighbour and care for those in need. Of course there are many ways to express such love and care, but it may be helpful to know that this year, Christ Church will be particularly involved with the following local initiatives:

  • Visiting and supporting the elderly – within our congregation, and befriending individuals across our city.

  • The Embassy – offers a ‘home away from home’ for internationals. It’s a time to relax, make friends, find help with the English language and culture, and hear why Jesus Christ is good news.  It takes place most Saturdays at Christ Church, from 2.30 -4pm. (This has paused during the pandemic)

  • The Besom – provides a wide variety of opportunities for teams of people to help others in the community in practical ways, such as garden tidying and decorating.

  • Cambridge Churches Homeless Project - runs throughout the winter across seven churches, who take turns to provide a friendly welcome, hot supper, and safe space to sleep to around 12 guests. This winter, Christ Church will host on Monday nights throughout February and March.
